Thanks for coming to visit. Currently my practice is full for children and parents who reside in Michigan and I am no longer taking clients.

Parent Management Tele-training.

Child & Teen Tele-therapy.

(Recommended Ages: 4-12 years)

We’ll collaborate together to draw up a plan that is crafted to suit your family needs while also supporting your child’s social-emotional skills and behaviors. This type of work is typically most effective for children between the ages of 4-12 years who are having challenges with disruptive or defiant behaviors (e.g., biting, kicking, lying, tantrums). This approach can also be incorporated for children who are experiencing anxiety, as these disruptive behaviors tend to come as a package deal!

Parent Tele-consults

(Recommended Ages: 0-18 years)

Aren’t sure what you might need? Have you been asking yourself whether your child or adolescent’s behaviors are “normal”? Is your family experiencing an unexpected transition that you want to help support or better prepare your child for? We can cover a range of developmental topics in these consults (which can be short-term or long-term depending on your questions and needs), and you can consider me as the child psychologist expert in your back pocket! Specializations in this area can include general feeding and toileting concerns as well as pediatric pain (headaches, nausea, stomachaches, and/or chronic medical illness).

(Recommended Ages: 9+)

I tend to shy away from using the term “individual” therapy, as my approach in working with your child or teen emphasizes collaboration when appropriate/possible. We’ll work together as a team to figure out what combination of child and parent sessions works best. I draw most heavily from the following approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) - and yes, us psychologists really do love our acronyms!

FAQs

  • Typically, our first session will last 90 minutes, and sessions thereafter will be 50 minutes. The first session is $250, and 50-minute sessions are $175. Additional services such as reviewing previous assessments, attending IEP meetings, etc. will be determined before the services are rendered. I work collaboratively with my clients to come up with a payment plan that works for them.

  • Currently, I do not accept insurance. It’s important to me that our therapy is dictated by our work together and your needs rather than the insurance company. This means we get to bypass health insurance restrictions and practice individualized services that tailored to you.

I accept FSA (Flex Savings Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account) accounts. Payment is due at the time of each session.

Additionally, if your insurance has out-of-network benefits, you can see any licensed therapist you'd like. Typically, your insurance plan reimburses you a percentage (~60-90%), after you meet your deductible. I will provide you a form known as a “superbill” that you can submit to the insurance company for reimbursement yourself. Please contact your insurance company to verify your benefits before scheduling.

  • At this time and for the foreseeable future, I only offer telehealth services (all our sessions will be held via video call) for clients residing in the state of Michigan.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask that you do so within 24 hours in advanced of our scheduled session.

Otherwise, you will be charged a $50 no-show fee which is non-refundable (and not typically reimbursed by insurance). You may cancel either by calling me or emailing contact@drsharonlo.com; you may also cancel using the client portal link you received in your appointment confirmation email.
